Virtual trade mission from the Netherlands to the United Kingdom on 7 and 11 October 2021

Maritime

One of the sectors during the virtual trade mission is Maritime (smart port development and sustainable shipping) with a focus on:

• Digitization and optimization of port facilities: the process by which ports apply technological and data developments to improve and streamline their business operations, the flow of people and goods. This takes place in a wide range of applications: from digitization of basic processes to the use of the latest innovations in detection, data processing and automated processes;
• Digitization of shipping (including autonomous ships and systems). Autonomous systems help improve operational safety for a wide range of tasks, such as mooring ships at quays and docks, piloting, unloading, etc.;
• Energy transition in the maritime sector (including decarbonisation of marine fuels; application of hydrogen, LNG, biofuels, synthetic fuels, ammonia, methanol; capture of CO2);
• Cross-cutting: knowledge exchange and innovation cooperation in the above-mentioned sub-areas within the maritime sector.
